Why would you support a freelance journalist?
Because every crisis is worth it
I am a freelance research journalist who pursues the injustice across the border. I push beyond boundaries and do not shun the extreme in my investigation into corruption, crime and violence. In recent years I have worked in countries such as Venezuela, Colombia, Curaçao, Turkey, Syria, Eastern Ukraine and Europe. I am worried about Dutch journalism. You can read more about my thoughts about this here and here
Thorough research costs time and money. As a freelance research journalist and therefore independent entrepreneur, this means that I have to turn every dime. Newspapers and other institutions often only take an article after this has been completed. In addition, they often pay marginally. For me, this means that I often have to limit myself in what I can really do. I like to stay busy and give myself the space I need to do thorough research. With your support I can do what I do even better. You give me an opportunity to continue working as an independent freelance journalist, and you get beautiful and solid independent articles in return
As a freelance research journalist, with no fixed income, I have to turn every dime to do my job. With your contribution you give me the opportunity to continue my work as an independent journalist.
That is also possible. During my travels I often meet people in difficult circumstances. People without food, medical care or a roof over their heads. I can help them, on your behalf, and let you know how I have spent your donation.
